At SK Gardens, I work closely with clients to create beautiful, functional outdoor spaces with a sense of character and longevity. Each design is developed with careful attention to proportion, materials, planting and the relationship between the house and garden.

Whether creating a garden from the beginning or reimagining an existing space, the aim is to bring clarity and cohesion to the landscape, creating somewhere that feels inviting, personal and enduring.

Garden design brings together the many elements of an outdoor space into one carefully developed plan. From the arrangement of entertaining areas, pathways and garden beds to the selection of materials, trees and planting, each decision is considered as part of the wider design.

The design process

Every project begins with a conversation and a visit to the garden. This is an opportunity to understand how you live, what you would like to achieve and the opportunities within the existing space.

From there, I develop a garden concept exploring the layout, planting, materials and overall character of the space. Through drawings, visual references and design presentations, the ideas are refined into a cohesive scheme.

Depending on the project, this can include detailed garden plans, planting designs, material selections and 3D visualisations, providing the information needed to bring the garden to life.

Working together

Projects range from smaller garden spaces and planting designs to the complete redesign of established gardens and outdoor spaces for new homes.

Based in Hamilton, I undertake projects throughout the Waikato and across New Zealand, collaborating with homeowners, architects and landscapers to create gardens that are both beautiful and practical to build.
